ECI Announces Schedule for Lok Sabha Elections 2024

New Delhi, 16 Mar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections for the 543 parliamentary seats on Saturday.

Speaking to the press, the Chief Election Commissioner of India, Rajiv Kumar, stated that in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, there will be 97 crore voters in the 10.5 lakh polling stations across India, with more than 1 crore citizens voting for the first time.

Polling will be held on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1, informed Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.

Meghalaya’s Lok Sabha election voting is scheduled for April 19, falling within the First Phase, with counting scheduled for June 4.

Meghalaya has two Parliamentary seats – Shillong and Tura Parliamentary Seats. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar declared that the Lok Sabha elections will span seven phases.

With the announcement of dates, the model code of conduct comes into force immediately.
