Mendipathar, 15 Mar: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today handed over land agreement papers to Varun Beverages, the holding company of PepsiCo that sets up Pepsi bottling plants across India. This agreement paves the way for establishing a Pepsi industrial plant unit at Mendipathar in North Garo Hills.

PepsiCo plans to invest approximately ₹130 crore to set up the industrial plant in Meghalaya. This plant will produce and supply Pepsi and other PepsiCo products to Meghalaya, North Bengal, and Assam.

In a social media post, Conrad Sangma wrote, “The launch of the Meghalaya Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy (MIIPP) 2024 has been followed by the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 2,957 crore with various private investors. We hope that through these partnerships, we will be able to create jobs and foster a conducive environment for ease of doing business in the state.”
