Conrad Sangma laid a foundation for 3 project in New Shillong Township

Shillong, 11 Mar: Conrad Sangma laid the foundation for three major projects on Monday: the New Shillong Water Supply Scheme, a land reclamation project at the Waste Processing and Disposal site in Marten Mawlai, and the construction of Internal Roads within the New Shillong Township at Mawkhanu, Mawpdang.

Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, PHE Minister Marcuise Marak, Health Minister Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh, and Chief Secretary D.P. Wahlang were also present alongside Conrad Sangma.

The New Shillong Water Supply Scheme, costing Rs 1600 Crore, is one of the largest state-funded projects. Conrad Sangma stated that it is targeted to be completed within 36 months.

Additionally, on the construction of Internal Roads within the New Shillong Township at Mawkhanu, Mawpdang, Sangma informed that the roads are being developed for Mawkhanu at the cost of Rs. 185 Crores. He aslo stated several road projects worth Rs. 343 Crores are in progress within the New Shillong Township to addresss the connectivity issues, including Ummir to Mawkhanu and Kynoton to Lyngkien, Bellefonte to new township, Diengpasoh road to Shillong bypass, and Bribah Mawpat to new township.

And the land reclamation project at the Waste Processing and Disposal site in Marten Mawlai, Conrad informed that through this project, we will convert the legacy waste into products, which can be used or reused and recycled and the project will complete within 12 to 18 months.
